Shipping cavies requires a lot of preparation, because of this I do charge a shipping fee of $45 which includes:
3 hour round trip to Airport
Food
Fleece Blanket (for comfort)
Any additional supplies needed
I prefer to use United Airlines 'PetSafe' Service since they have the lower rates, temperature controlled cargo area, and ship cavies all year round. They use Continental's Award Winning "Petsafe" program.
If you have a different airline you like I can check out prices.
United Airlines "PetSafe" #: 1-800-575-3335.
*PLEASE CALL United's 'PetSafe' to see if they ship to YOUR airport of choice that accepts planes with pressurized and temperature-controlled cargo cabins *
United Airlines "PetSafe" Shipping Price for everywhere in the US:
Plane Ticket:
$75 up to 9 lbs = $95 total - with extra fees included (Fuel surcharge fee .42¢ per pound & freight processing fee of $10, plus 6.25% Federal tax against $75 plane ticket price only = $20 extra)
$125 for 10-50 lbs = $150 total (including extra fees totaling $25)
Pet Crate:
$30 crate for up to 9 lbs
$45 crate for 10-50 lbs & charged the $125 ticket fee as required by United Airlines*
Shipping Fee:
$45 Shipping Fee
TOTAL: $170 for up to 9 lbs - or $240 with next size Pet Crate for 10-50 lbs
The "up to 9lbs lbs" or "10-50 lbs " has to include the weight of the crate.
You are having them shipped at your own risk.
I do not assume any responsibility for their care once the airline takes them.
Airlines are very careful with handling live pets and their cargo cabins are temperature controlled. I offer no refunds or assume any financial responsibilities if the guinea pig(s) have any problems after we give them to the airlines.
Most airlines offer Insurance and this is a small extra cost. I can have my Vet provide Health Certificates if you are insuring them at your cost.
*There is rarely a problem. I would recommend shipping Cavies to anyone*
